November 29th —Ophelia Kickstarter begins!

It has been a busy and intense 2 year journey developing the first Ophelia storybook. Lately I have been particularly busy building the numerous components that go into the Kickstarter page.

See the Kickstarter preview page here:

We hope you can support us in this time to spread word and consider ordering a print copy of our wonderful book. Showing off all of the artworks and telling people about the story behind Ophelia has always led to positive reactions from people, but the real test is whether fans come to the Kickstarter and offer support in preordering our wonderful book.

Some advantages that are on our side include marketing efforts I have invested in, such as a placement in Girl’s Life magazine’s Cool Winter Reads list (1.89 million people read the magazine!). We also will be seen by tens of thousands of librarians as our ad will be in December’s issue of Library Journal. Likewise, more librarians and teachers will arrive at our website and Kickstarter by way of postcards that were sent out to libraries and schools mostly in California, New York, and Massachusetts. Welcome to you all. I sincerely hope you like what we have made.

Creating something I can be proud of in this life is at the core of my philosophy as a human. I know many creative people feel the same. Since the beginning of this project in late 2020, I had my eye out for artists who have developed an ability to present to us a vision of life better than we usually see in life. While most people tap out early and are willing to present inferior examples of what they are capable of, the artists of Ophelia were chosen because they have withstood the urge to give up. They not only stayed strong in the face of inevitable bad work that comes too often, especially when someone is a beginner. And they did not rely on the crutch of replicating the styles of others. It takes so much more to push beyond and develop skills and a style that provides a unique and valuable way of seeing life.

Ophelia is our hero and represents all these values. She is imperfect, but is a champion of the ethics stated above. Life is a better place because of the people such as these artists who push beyond and help us to have something beautiful like the books full of beautiful art and heartfelt story that will soon be held by fans around the world.
